Cascabela Thevetia
Kaneir, Kaner, yellow Oleander, Lucky nut
Description of Cascabela Thevetia
Cascabela thevetia, commonly known as yellow oleander or lucky nut, is a flowering shrub or small tree native to the tropical regions of Central America and parts of the Caribbean. This evergreen plant is valued for its attractive, glossy, lance-shaped leaves and vibrant, tubular flowers that typically bloom in clusters, ranging in color from bright yellow to orange or white and measuring about 5-8 cm long. Mature plants can reach heights of 3 to 7 meters and are often used in landscaping for their dense foliage and striking blooms. The fruit is a long, slender capsule containing one or two seeds that are toxic if ingested. Cascabela thevetia thrives in well-drained soil and prefers full sun to partial shade, making it suitable for various garden settings. While it is relatively drought-tolerant once established, regular watering promotes optimal growth, and the plant's resilience to pests and diseases enhances its popularity in tropical and subtropical landscapes.
